U.S. Veteran Lewis V. Ferguson, 92, of Syracuse passed away Sunday at the Syracuse VA Medical Center. Born in Richland to Vernon and Estella Ferguson, he was raised in Wolcott, graduated from Leavenworth High School, and was a member of the Methodist church. He was an Army Air Corps Veteran and served with the 9th Bombardier Group in the Panama Defense Zone. Lewis retired from the US Postal Service in 1986 after 27 years. After retirement, he worked for Costello, Cooney & Fearon for many years. He was predeceased by his siblings, Charles, Ken, Mike, Florence, and Olive. Surviving are his wife of 68 years, Edith Stoddard Ferguson; 2 sons, Richard (Janet) and James (Sharon); a daughter, Margaret S. (Lee) Post all of Syracuse; 8 grandchildren, Matthew Post, Jennifer Cittadino, Russ (Kristin) Ferguson, Katy (Liam) Corey, Mary Ellen, Suzanna, Kimberly, and Kelly Ferguson; 5 great grandchildren, Madelyn & Sophia Cittadino, Ceili Corey, Tori & Olivia Ferguson; a special niece, Cathie Luz; many nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be 1 PM Friday, June 8 in Onondaga Valley Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Syracuse VA Medical Center, 800 Irving Ave., Syracuse, NY 13210
