Shirley Mae Teachout left to meet the Lord Jesus Christ face to face on Thursday, August 16, 2012; only three weeks shy of her 86th birthday. Shirley was born in Syracuse Sept. 6, 1926, the daughter of the late Scott and Mary Tutton. She graduated from Eastwood High School in 1944. Shirley was wedded to Howard Teachout in January 1946 who predeceased her in 1993. In addition to being a homemaker, Shirley was also a Post-Standard distributer in Marcellus, Liverpool, and in the city. In 1977 Shirley became the proprietor of the remaining Seven Hour Dry Cleaner Store which was located on Geddes St. She retired in 1991. Shirley was an excellent piano player and often played for church services while attending W. Genesee Hills Baptist Church. Most recently she was a member of Faith Baptist Church of Camillus. Shirley was a dedicated animal lover and thru the years had cared for many dogs and cats. Shirley was predeceased by her son, James in 1987; her sister, Mary and brother, Bob. Survivors include sons, Gary (Rose) of Myrtle Beach, SC, Bob (Julie) of Kirkville, Michael of Atlanta, GA, Scott of Syracuse; 13 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren; her adopted granddaughter, Mary Wilmot; several nieces and nephews, as well as Abby her beloved chihuahua. The family would like to thank the staff of St. Camillus during the recent weeks. Her son, Rev Bob Teachout officiated the private service which was recently held.
